Text by: Dr. Ladinszki Viktória

The first song of the album "7 Samurai Sessions - We're KAVKI BOIZ"
throws us right away ("in medias res") in the middle of Miyavi's new
style. Beat box, scratching and blues style guitar playing. A special
mix just for real music lovers. The song was originally released on
the album Miyaviuta ~Dokusou~ in the previous year and is originally a
little bit faster played blues song. This new-style-adaptation
emphasizes another meaning of the lyrics unlike the original version;
this version is much more "selfish", the previous one is much more
"love".
In this song Miyavi starts the arc of his fresh musical concept from
the roots, with a classical blues song with enchanting guitar playing,
so people might even forget that the musician is Japanese not
American. The slapping technique is not as flashy as in the previous
version of "Selfish love" but still impressive and unique. The beat
box and the scratching help to create an even more unique Western
sound.
This song portrays the musical world of the whole album: two musical
styles and two periods in time mixed together. There're always an old
one and a new one, projected on on another together until they became
one. This song can be interpreted as a DJ set because "DJ Miyavi"
mixes two styles into a perfect new song. That's "Selfish love": a
blues song with exciting hip-hop elements. This song fuels your soul
with the simple but intent blues music and in the meantime gives you a
beat to go on. It's beyond question a hard to forget tune.
